This annual event is a relaxed and leisurely way for residents and visitors to explore the scenic Santa Barbara Mesa byways as well as to catch a glimpse of the lifestyles and enjoy the works of twelve (12) award-winning professional artists at nine open studios.
The art tour reaffirms nearly a century of tradition among residentartists on the Santa Barbara Mesa. The unique neighborhood with its winding lanes and hillside panorama of the ocean has been home and inspiration for famed Western painters, such as Thomas Moran, Carl Oscar Borg and Ed Borein.
The professional artists hosting the 2009 MAST EVENT span the art spectrum from contemporary to traditional and employ many different media. They are Deborah Breedon, Sarah Carr, Morgan Green, Karin Aggeler, Ellen Yeomans, Erin Williams, Paige Wilson, Margaret Nadeau, Larry Iwerks, Susan Belloni, Jamee Aubrey and Ron Freese.
For the first time in the seven years that the Mesa artists have opened their studios, an official MAST guide can be viewed online--designed to be downloaded and printed. The one-page guide includes a map with easy-to-follow directions to each studio.
